I bought this generator to power lights and small appliances at my cabin, and for these jobs it works like a champ. I power about 7 lights, coffee maker, and a microwave (not all at the same time). It's reasonably quiet, starts within a few pulls, and is reliable. I also own the Honda EU2000is and there are quality differences you'll notice. You will save about $300 over the price of the Honda EU2000is, but I would spend the extra $$$ if you can afford it. But, if $$$ is important you won't be dissappointed with the Kipor

Sunsei SE-150 2.25-Watt 15-Volt Solar Panel Battery Charger / Maintainer 25003 Review

I purchased this for trickle charging the battery on my tractor. It tends to sit (covered) in a sunny spot, and, it is an electricity hog when I use the lights on it. It has worked well for about a month maintaining the charge on the battery, making up for the poor output of the old generator on the tractor, and boosting the starting and lighting power.

This unit provides a constance 0.15 amp charge. I have a few concerns. I hooked up a high quality voltmeter to it and the charge read somewhere between 16 volts and 18 volts (off the scale on my volt meter). Under a load (once connected to the battery) it may read a lower voltage but I have not measured it under load.

My other concern is that this does not have any kind of voltage regulator.When your battery reaches its full charge there is a possibility of overcharging the battery.

In any event, it charges a battery over a period of about four days and keeps it charged.

A real plus to this unit is that it is accompanied by an excellent array of leads. It has an extension cord that is about 8 feet long. There are four types of leads enclosed with the package.

Stansport Stainless Steel 8 and 9 Inch Fry Pan Set Review

Sunbeam 2349 Heritage Series Stand Mixer Review

I love my Heritage stand mixer!I used a sunbeam stand mixer for aprx. 25 years and it finally died on me.It was great except for the real heavy duty mixing (it had fewer watts than the Heritage model does).I replaced it with a KitchenAid stand mixer.I put up with it for 5 years and mostly hated it.It beat things too light... mashed potatoes, cookie dough... which changed the texture and taste of foods.Worst was how frustrating KitchenAid's are to use.The mixing bowl is deep and small in diameter.That means every time you need to mix a bit with your spatula, you have to turn off the mixer,unlock the head, lift up the head, then mix your ingredients, then put the head back down, then relock the head, then turn the mixer back on... every time you want to stir a bit.There just isn't room for reaching into the bowl it's so small in diameter.When you add in dry ingredients to your dough you can't get into the bowl enough with anything other than a stirring spoon.I just found that it wasn't worth the frustration.
Compare that to the Sunbeam Heritage which I bought 5 months ago... powerful motor (in fact, more watts than the KitchenAid most people buy and more watts than my original Sunbeam)... large diameter bowl so you can add ingredients easily and mix when you want to.
Only thing I would like on my Sunbeam Heritage that I don't have is a glass bowl.My original one had glass bowls and they were great for mashing potatoes in and then heating them up a bit in the microwave, without having to transfer them.(KitchenAid's bowls aren't glass either.)

Coleman 9 1/2-Inch Steel Non-Stick Fry Pan Review

Coleman makes great lanterns and this is the best I have experienced over the years.After going through many broken globes during travel (at $10-$15 each), I finally discovered this model which has a `metal guard' which virtually guarantees against cracks or breaks during camping or shipping.Plus, the InstaStart ignition is perfect and you never have to worry about wet matches.The base is sturdier than any other model and there is no cause for worry about tipping it over, since it has foldable feet for convenience.The InstaStart ignition also enables you to easily adjust the light intensity (and thus saving fuel).This model uses the"InstaClip tube mantles" which are so easy to simply clip on.No more fussing with string-tie mantles.The only flaw I can find is the lantern weighs about four pounds, but considering all the extras, it is well worth it, even when backpacking.The price is very reasonable as well, compared to other Coleman Lanterns.It says the porcelain ventilators will prevent rusting, but since I just got this recently, I'll have to see if that's true (I am sure it is).

I was not hopeful, I was ready to have to return this product in anticipation of it not working out - in fact, upon receiving the product, I was careful to save all packing materials as I was fairly certain a return was inevitable.

I was wrong.

The thing actually works.It comes in a very unimpressive package, no instructions, just the Mattress Medic, a pump and a patch kit, lol.It takes some patience in adjusting it properly to suit the wear pattern on your mattress (that in itself might take a few days to discern; sleeping on it and seeing what areas need more or less lift) but it seriously, really works.I slept great last night on my rather inexpensive mattress (the first brand new mattress I ever purchased - but lets be real, it's a $300 mattress, queen size, you do get what you pay for in the mattress world)which is only 3 years old.In fact, I would venture to say this product has made the bed better than it was when brand new - keeping in mind it is an economy mattress.

Anyhow, I definitely recommend this product.I don't have to go out and buy a new mattress now for at least a year or two?I hope?We'll see, but so far, so good.

The spray spits drops and dribbles down your fingers and arm. Could easily soak everything in one's pocket book or pocket. Now for the kicker. Check out supplier's return policy. Actually, one should do this before purchasing anything, but in this case, it's a lost cause, getting even a small share of my money back, what with the restocking and shipping fees.

Stansport Non Stick Steel Two Person Cookware Set, Black Granite Review

We purchased this set to use for lightweight car camping trips, but it is not too heavy for backpacking.

The set is steel, and heats more evenly than aluminum sets I've used in the past. I cooked a test pot of rice over a one burner stove and experienced no sticking, burning or dry spots.The folding handles are riveted to the pots and pan rather than being welded.The handles are loose, and under some circumstances could fold back against the cookware while cooking, leading to melting of the plastic covering, but they do lock together which should prevent that.

The plastic cups that come with the set feel somewhat cheap (alright, really cheap) but include measurement markings and withstand boiling water quite well.

Because of the finish and the non-stick coating, I would not recommend this set for use over a campfire.

All in all, I'm pleased with the performance of the set, and at the price, would say it's a good value.

Sleep Well: Finding the Right Sleeping Bag
Sleeping bag technology has come a long way from the days of cowboy bedrolls. These days, there are a number of high-tech materials and designs available to keep you warm during the coldest outings. Here's a short list of things to keep in mind when you're shopping for a bag:
Buy for Cold
It's a safe bet that on at least one of your adventures, the nighttime temperature will drop unexpectedly. That's why it's smart to buy a bag that's rated for the lowest possible temperature you expect to face on your camping and backpacking trips. For summer trips, a bag rated at 35 degrees or higher will likely do the trick. If you like to camp in higher elevations in the summer, or if spring and fall outings are in your future, consider bags rated from 10 to 35. Winter adventurers should look for bags in the -10 to 10 range, while those on serious winter alpine climbs and expeditions will want a bag rated lower than -10.
Keep in mind that sleeping bag manufacturers' temperature ratings only estimate the minimum temperature at which the bag will provide warmth. Take these numbers with a grain of salt, as different folks generate different amounts of heat when they sleep. If you're the type who likes to pile on the covers even on warmer nights, go for a bag that's rated ten degrees colder. The opposite is true for "warm" sleepers--a 35-degree bag will probably work for you on a 25-degree night.
Goose or No Goose?
The most important component of any sleeping bag is its insulating material. Modern sleeping bags offer two choices: goose down or synthetic. While both materials have advantages and disadvantages, down bags are considered superior because of their phenomenal warmth-to-weight and warmth-to-bulk ratios. While providing great insulation, down is extremely compressible and light. There's a reason why geese can fly and stay warm through the winter! Down also boasts great long-term durability and will typically retain its insulating properties after years of use.
All of that said, there are many high-quality synthetic bags on the market and synthetic materials are getting better all the time. While a synthetic bag will weigh somewhat more than a down bag at an equivalent temperature rating, synthetic bags perform better when wet. (Yes, the Achilles heel of down is that it loses all insulating properties when wet.) If your trips take you to wet climates, you may want to consider a synthetic bag for this reason alone. Keep in mind, too, that many people are allergic to down--synthetic bags are non-allergenic. Finally, down is considerably more expensive than synthetic, which might tip the balance for adventurers on a budget.
Bags for All Shapes
Sleeping bags come in two basic shapes that reflect their intended use. Mummy-shaped bags offer the best warmth because they conform to the body's contours. This minimizes the amount of body heat the body must put out to maintain a constant temperature. Many mummy bags are offered in women-specific shapes and sizes, as well. Rectangular bags, while they do offer more room to toss and turn, are less thermally efficient because they contain more open air space. Also, they are typically heavier than mummy bags, and are generally not offered with down insulation, making them best suited for car camping or short backpacking trips.
Pad Yourself
No matter what kind of bag you choose, a sleeping pad is a required accessory. Not only do they provide much-needed comfort when sleeping on the ground, pads also offer crucial warmth for your backside, as the weight of your body compresses--and renders virtually useless--the sleeping bag insulation that lies beneath you.

Coleman Cable 05706 18/2 SJTW Green Floodlight Holder Review

I had bought a bunch of the metal coleman floodlight mounts (Coleman Cable 5718 Metal Floodlight Holder) but when amazon jacked the price from $4 to $10 I switched and ordered a few of these. The metal ones of course are much sturdier but these do a decent job. I did have a problem where my soil was hard clay and when I pushed these down into the soil two of them broke where the stake screws to the actual flood light mount. So that being said, they are good, they work well but be careful as they are not very strong. I have learned my lesson and for my purposes I'll stick with the metal ones.

Animal Trophy Moose Dog Toy - 24x14x7" Review

Mr. Moose is a favorite at our house. I like that he doesn't have stuffing to pull out and throw all over the place and my boys like the squeakers :-).

I have a Newfie and a Great Pyr so this is a real tough dog toy for them but they are gentle hearts when they love a toy and will spare a life once in a great while. 12 Cup Mr Coffee Auto Off Review

Purchased this product about a year ago and the electronics are no longer functional. Clock display goes blank and device shuts itself off after just a minute or so.

I was never impressed with the design in the first place as the reservoir holds about the same volume as the carafe, but has an overflow that drains anything over the 12 cup mark. Why is this an issue? If you overfill the reservoir, for example by filling the carafe just slightly over the 12 cup mark, the excess water drains out the back of the coffee maker and all over the counter or whatever surface the coffee maker sits on. The carafe holds well more than 12 cups so it is easy to exceed the 12 cup threshold of the reservoir. The reservoir water level indicator on the front of the coffee maker will show water levels above 12 cups and with room above the 12 cup water level, somewhat implies the reservoir will hold more. In actuality anything over 12 cups is draining out the back. Worst yet, it only trickles out, so the overflow may not be noticed right away.

Stansport Premium Quality Stainless Steel 7 piece Deluxe Family Cookset Review

This is a GREAT cookware set to have for the family camping trip! It's made of chef-quality, yet lightweight, stainless steel which makes it very easy to lift and easy to clean as well. It also stacks nice and neatly together so I'm able to store it a cabinet in our tent trailer - the cabinet being on the small side and not very deep. On our last camping trip, I was able to cook more than enough food for our family of six, which includes four very hungry boys :) We even prepared a wonderful egg and pancake breakfast, using the smaller pots as mixing bowls (they have slightly rounded bottom edges on the inside making mixing and cleaning very easy) for the pancake batter and scrambled eggs, and then used the 3-quart pot along with the universal lid as a pancake warmer, and boy did that keep them piping hot on a very chilly morning. I highly recommend this set for a family looking for a quality camping cookware set that stores very easily!

Coleman Crescent Sleeping Bag Review

I purchased the Coleman "Crescent" mummy bag about a month ago and have used it on an overnight backpacking trip as well as on a week long camping trip.I am cold blooded and have always required a blanket over my bag when camping out.This bag has changed that.It's light enough and stuffs small enough for my backpack.The hood on this mummy bag is better than hoods I'm use to.

I'm 5'5" and of medium build.There was plenty of room in the bag for me.

I have one complaint with this bag which is why I gave it four stars instead of five.You must zip this bag from the outside only.With other mummy bags I've had the zipper worked on both the inside and outside of the bag.Otherwise, it's a perfect bag.
